Spring Makeup Trends for Brides

Saw this great gallery from Harpers Bazaar on this year’s spring makeup trends and thought I’d share some ideas on using some of these looks on your wedding.

Purple Haze
Use a beautiful pale lilac such as NYX Glam Shadow Fairy or NYX Shadow Shimmer Frosted Lilac all over your eyelid or just on the inner corners of your eyes and under the lower lash line for a light, ethereal look or go for a deep purple like MAC Mauveless for a more dramatic smoky eye.

Fine Lines
I am a massive fan of eye liner and love this classic look on a bride, gel liner is great as it stays put for hours and hours and its waterproof. Nearly every brand out there does a gel liner but I really like Maybelline or L’Oréal Gel Liner as they come in a variety of shades, are waterproof, long wearing and affordable. Apply your base eye shadow and sweep the liner along and above your upper lash line, if you want a more natural look go for a thin line or go thicker with flicks for a more retro glam look.

Brown Eyed Girls
There’s a brown eye palette out there for everyone, with such a wide range of shades you can find something for all skin tones. Go with paler natural shades along with a brown gel liner to enhance your eyes for an au natural look on your big day or use darker shades and created a more dramatic smoky eye that’s softer than using grey/black tones. NYX Love Rio eyeshadow trio is fab and comes in loads of different brown eyeshadow combinations. Another great look this season is shimmering bronze tones, either all over your eyelid up to the crease (but not up to your brow) or as an intense streak instead of eye liner, something like MAC eye pigment in Museum Bronze is great.

Flaming Lips
I love the bold orange lip tones for a summers evening out on the town but it’s not always the right look for a spring bride, try more rose, berry or red tones for a more elegant, traditional look, I often use Max Factor Lipfinity Mellow Rose/Just in Love or Max Factor Lipfinity Colour & Gloss Radiant Rose/Radiant Red for slightly more of a retro feel.
